The Sungai Long Medical Centre (SLMC) Fun Run 2015 successfully took place on 26 April 2015 near the medical centre. UTAR staff and students joined in the fun event together with other members of the Sungai Long community and the SLMC staff. The run was one of SLMC’s many initiatives to bring the Sungai Long community together for a healthy activity.
Now in its third year, the Fun Run has seen an increase in runners from 1,500 participants in 2013 to 2,500 participants this year. Participants chose between a 5 km route and a 10 km route with registration beginning at 6.00 am. The 10 km route runners set off at 7.00 am, while the 5 km route runners followed suit at 7.15 am. Warm up stretches and cool down exercises were led by SLMC’s very own physiotherapists.
Dedicated to the promotion of healthy lifestyles, SLMC also set up 15 exhibition booths to educate the public on issues such as diet and health, hospitalisation insurance, physiotherapy, care of the elderly, as well as Fo Guang Shan’s volunteer recruitment for medical relief.
Lucky winners took home gleaming medals from the race and gifts from the Lucky Draw. All participants also received a certificate of participation and freebies like t-shirts, snacks and drinks.
