The much-anticipated TARCian Run is back for its seventh edition!
A popular running event jointly organised by TARCian Alumni Association (TAA) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), TARCian Run 2023 will feature a 7km fun run. It will be held on 16 September 2023 in conjunction with Malaysia Day at TAR UMT’s KL Campus. Participants from Perak, Johor and Pahang branches will join the run held in KL to further liven up the festivities at the main campus.
TAR UMT’s Penang and Sabah branches will organise their respective TARCian Run 2023 events at a different date.
Unveiled during its pre-event press conference on 31 May 2023, TARCian Run 2023 targets 8,000 runners and will be open to the general public. Runners will also stand a chance to win attractive prizes worth more than RM20,000 in the popular lucky draw event where the grand prize is an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
“TARCian Run is always one of the most anticipated events by our TARCian community. Every time we hold this event, we receive overwhelming support from not just the students but also from TAR UMT alumni, staff, and their family members. This event does not just promote a healthy lifestyle, but also fosters a sense of unity, solidarity and fellowship among students, staff, and alumni who share the same connection in TAR UMT.

It is in this spirit of unity that we welcome the general public to join TARCian Run 2023, where Malaysians from all walks of life can join our ‘Run for Unity’ and celebrate Malaysia Day together with the TARCian community,” said Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Chairman of TAR UMT Alumni Council and Member of the Board of Governors, TAR UMT.
Besides engaging students in unity and solidarity, another objective of TARCian Run is to raise funds for TAR UMT. Since 2015, TAA has successfully raised a total of RM300,000 via TARCian Run which were channeled to the TARC Education Foundation.
Mr Troy Chan Gwo Haur, Organising Chairman of TARCian Run 2023 and President of TAA, also announced the partnership with Duta Ulu-Kelang Expressway (DUKE) as the title sponsor for TARCian Run 2023.
“We are honoured to have DUKE return as our title sponsor and allow us to utilise sections of the Setiawangsa Pantai Expressway (SPE) for our running route which received a lot of positive reviews from last year’s participants for its breathtaking scenic view and safe racing experience. We are positive that this route will help us attract more runners this year,” said Troy.
Sin Chew Media Corporation Bhd has also returned as the official media partner for this year’s event. TARCian Run 2023 will also have support from several other sponsors, featuring Universal Sports Sdn Bhd as a Gold Sponsor. In the Silver Sponsor category are FELET International Holdings Sdn Bhd, Kerjaya Prospek Group Berhad and YEE TSL PLT, while All ICT Group of Companies, Avia Foundation, B&G Capital Resources Berhad, Ebara Pumps Malaysia, and Opus Farm Sdn Bhd are the Bronze Sponsors. Additional sponsors are expected to join in the coming months.
The registration fee starts at RM40 for TAR UMT students and staff. For alumni and family members (of students, staff and alumni), the fee will be RM50. For the general public, the registration fee is RM60. An early bird discount is given to the first 500 TAR UMT students to register where they only need to pay RM30 to join.
