简介：
医科是一门栽培专业医生的科系，以应付社会的医疗及保健需求。从事医生这门职业须有很高的抗压能力、责任心及爱心，因为医生的职责重大，病人的健康、生命都掌握在其手里。此外，这门科系需要学习的学问很多，选择此科系的学生，要有充分的心理准备面对沉重的课业压力。医学系学生一般考取的学位有两种，即是 M.B.B.S.（Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery）和 M.D.（Doctor of Medicine）。以上的两个学位都拥有相等的学术资格，不同的是 M.B.B.S.是来自英国的学位，而 M.D.是来自美国的学位。
医学是以治病、研究及预防疾病为主要研究方针，它可分为三大类：
1. 基础医学 (专门探讨人体健康、致病原理、治疗方法、药理学)
2. 临床医学 (分科研究病变、病状、内外科治疗)
3. 预防医学 (研究如何预防疾病)
若以医学专科分类，一般上又可分为：
1. 麻醉学 (Anesthesiology)
2. 急救医学 (Emergency Medicine)
3. 普通诊症 (General Practice – Family Medicine)
4. 内科医学 (Internal Medicine)
5. 外科学 (Surgery)
6. 病理学 (Pathology)
7. 儿科医学 (Paediatrics)
8. 物理与康复治疗学 (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)
9. 预防医学 (Preventive Medicine)
10. 放射医学 (Radiology)
11. 精神病学及神经学 (Psychiatry and Neurology)

然而，内科与外科又有不同的专修领域：
内科专修有：
- 过敏与免疫科 (Allergy and Immunology)
研究与诊治免疫系统失常，包括敏感、免疫力减退与其它免疫病变 - 心脏科 (Cardiology)
专门诊治心脏与血管疾病 - 皮肤科 (Dermatology)
专门应付各种皮肤问题与病症 - 内分泌科 (Endocrinology)
专门研究腺状与其它荷尔蒙分泌结构的医学专科 - 肠胃科 (Geriatrics)
诊治相关消化系统、肝与胰脏功能的病症 - 老年科 (Geriatrics)
专注于研究老年人易患病症的高龄保健学 - 血液病科 (Haematology)
研究主宰人体健康的血液与血液结构 - 遗传科 (Medical Genetics)
诊治基因病变 - 肿瘤科 (Oncology)
研究与治疗癌症肿瘤 - 肾脏科(Nephrology)
专科治疗肾病 - 风湿病科(Rheumatology)
专门研究关节与骨骼衔接结构
外科专修有：
- 结肠与直肠手术 (Colon and Rectal Surgery)
主治肛门、直肠、肠，包括痔疮、良性肿瘤与结肠癌等 - 妇产科与妇科 (Obstetrics and Gynae Cology)
妇产科处理的是女性妊娠问题，而妇科则专治女性生殖系统的病症 - 神经科 (Neurological Surgery)
外科医生主掌包括脑部、神经线与脊髓部位的复杂手术 - 眼科 (Ophthalmic Surgery)
诊治范围包括纠正视力、进行医药疗法，以及在必要时施行眼科手术 - 矫型外科手术 (Orthopaedic Surgery)
包括矫正骨骼、肌肉、韧带与腱部等相连组织，也涵盖骨架畸形、治疗骨折及其它创伤 - 耳鼻喉科 (Otolaryngology)
诊治头颈部位问题，诸如听力有问题、治疗鼻窦 (颅骨中的空穴部位) 炎和喉癌等疾病 - 儿科手术 (Paediatric Surgery)
专门为儿童及婴儿施手术，主要是纠正幼儿先天问题，包括移除不正常的增生部分 - 整形及修复手术 (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery)
专为人体表面部位操刀，从而纠正残缺或失准的身体部位 - 胸腔科手术 (Thoracic Surgery)
动刀的人体部位包括心脏、肺部与胸腔壁 - 泌尿科 (Urology)
主掌的手术包括女性尿道与男性泌尿科毛病

就业机会：
毕业生必须先向马来西亚医药理事会申请临时注册，实习两年后方可正式获得大马医药理事会 (Malaysia Medical Council – MMC) 承认为合格医生。之后，须在政府医院服务三年，始可选择留在医院服务，或自行开设诊所。此外，凡有兴趣继续深造的毕业生，亦可选择攻读专科，以成为专科医生，或专修硕士学位或博士学位以在大学任教。
学习内容：
此科系的课程共分两个阶段：理论 (Theory) 教学阶段，和临床 (Clinical) 教学阶段。理论教学阶段的课程涵盖：生物化学、生理学、解剖学、放射学、病理学、微生物学、药物学、寄生虫学、麻醉学、了解人体的结构及各器官功能等。临床教学阶段的课程涵盖：病床学习、巡视病房，与有经验的医生在病房里接触病人、诊断病情，内科、外科、妇产科、麻醉学、急诊等。
要念医学系，还可以报读A-level或其他Foundation（通常都须有报考生物），再进私立大学的医学系。你可以向私立大学问问看。

要读医科的话在pre-u时应该选读什么科目？
医学最重要有生物及化学。每所学校的提供的课程都不同，多数学校都会依学生选择的科系安排了Foundation的课程。
您觉得UTAR的医学系怎样？是不是也一样的得先报读他们的faundation of science？

没有报考理科科目的话，录取的几率非常低。如果你要报考，可以到http://www.moe.gov.my/lp/申请，然后可以到外面的补习中心自修。

Or STPM if local U.
If uou plan to study oversea, u need to check a few things :
1) What is the qualification to enter that U(A level, or foundation, or stpm equivalent)
2) The U accept foreign student or not
3) Is the Medical degree recognized worldwide and by Malaysia MMC
4) Bonding to the foreign Country
5) Payment and fee
6) Do you need to take extra exam after your graduation

U need to take a medical degree for 5 years, become houseman for 2 years, and further study in OnG for another 4 years, to become OnG specialist.
IMU provide Medical Degree. I am not sure whether they provide any specialist course.
The fee varies each year. As what i remembered, it was around RM 300-400K. U may check with their website

I am not very sure regarding A level result can enter local U.
But if u r under the bond of JPA to study A level, u may choose to enter Local U. If not under the government scholarship, i dont think so.

However, u would be bound to government for 5 years after study. After that, u may choose to continue, or turn to private.

The latest houseman salary scheme is around 4.5k, including all incentives…

For STPM, due to the discrimination in the system, it is hard to get into medical course unless u get achieve cgpa 3.92 and above.
For matrix, cgpa 3.7+, u may hav a chance d.
A level : I do not think Local U medical course take any student from A level. Although A level is recognized in many foreign countries, they reserve medical course for their own citizens only
AUSMAT : Sorry. I have no idea about it
tat’s a bad news, but i really hope to study medicine, it has been my dream! I heard from people tat it doesn’t matter where u graduated, tat means i can graduated from any private school like IMU, AIDMST, UCSI… (where the requirement is lower) but you will still get a job as medical officer in Malaysia cuz they MUST employed you. Is tat true?

But u hav to check with Malaysia medical Council c whether they recognised ur degree or not. Many of Russia, India, Indonesia Medical degree are not recognised.
If you study and learn in Malaysia Hospital, u do not need another examination when u apply for jobs.
But for other country, u may need to take an extra exam before u can work here

You may look into these matters before deciding :
A) Recognization by MMC
b) Their Fee
c) Learning environment
d) Practical work in which hospital

Newspaper is saying that doctors will be jobless in 5 years time, how far is this true? And what do they mean by jobless? Does it mean that you cannot continue to serve the government after 3 years of medical officer? or it is like there are too much of medical officer and they can’t afford to employ more? Because from what i know, after 3 years of medical officer training and you get your license, as long as you don’t quit and continue to serve the government, you will never be out of job rite? or is it like you have to go through an interview to remain working for the government? Is the news of doctor jobless just refer to those who doesn’t want to serve the government and would like to set up a private practise. I sincerely hope that you can clarify these for me. i really dream to be a doctor.but i cant get 4 flat in stpm.i wanted to enter private institution.but got financial problem.my parents cant affort me that much of money.borrow from ptptn only get maximum rm150k,but still lack of rm150k if i want to study in aimst university.i even try to look for educational loan from bank but no bank is provided education loan anymore,even ocbc last time provided but the person say it has stop 2 year ago…wanted to borrow from kojadi but maximum also only rm60k.i really feel very dissappointed and dnt know what i can do now..i really want to study medicine so much…is there any other ways that i can do?
1) Doctors wont be jobless at the moment…just u cannot continue work in the big hospital after 2 years of houseman, and u may be posted to district (small town) to serve ppl there. At the moment, unless u resign after 5 years of compulsory working with government, ur contract will be renewed.
2) To be a surgeon,
5 years medical study, 2 years of houseman, MRCS paper for 4 years.
3) DOctor and lecturer ?
Can. The University will hire u to be adjunct lecturer, and pay u by hour basis.
Or, u may resign from hospital, turn to public university, teaching most of the time, but still need to work for hospital a few days per week

Dear Shirley, I do understand that Private degree need around 300k to 400k.
And it is not easy to get bank loan. Perhaps u may give a try for STPM first, try to get 3.92 and above, and u wil hav a chance.
If not, u may also persue study in other choice that u r also interest with.
There are many careers which are also interesting in their own ways. Medical is not the only definite answer

physic is important as well. u muz get at least all B in your 3 science subjects and your add maths.
不需要物理。但是通常大专都要求生物及化学需要考获至少B，对数学及英文科目的成绩也有要求。请向各大专了解详细的申请条件。
如果是要报读医科，都是需要在SPM有报考生物及化学。除非你愿意多花时间报考这几个科目。
