We refer to the recent announcement on the 5-year freeze on new medical courses made by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), and also the listing of 17 accredited medical training and teaching institutions by the Ministry in New Straits Times on Thursday May 5th, 2011.
We seek to clarify that Taylor’s University’s recent offering of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) five-year programme was approved by the Malaysian Medical Council on 22nd November 2010, and by MoHE on 16th December 2010 following evaluation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Parents and students can be assured that our medical programmes are all approved by MoHE. Intakes and classes are progressing as per normal. We hope that this statement would clarify the misconceptions held regarding the announcement.
Taylor’s School of Medicine aims to be a centre of excellence in medical education and provide a complete medical education programme that is second to none and ensuring that our graduates will be well equipped to serve the community.
