UTAR researcher-cum-lecturer from UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Dr Krishna Moorthy Manicka Nadar was named as the Best Reviewer for the International Journal of Modelling in Operations Management (IJMOM) published by Inderscience Publishers, an academic publisher based in Geneva, Switzerland. He was awarded with the Best Reviewer Award on 16 March 2018.
Inderscience Publishers publishes over 400 peer-reviewed journals in the fields of science, engineering and technology; management, public and business administration; environment, ecological economics and sustainable development; computing, ICT and internet/web services. IJMOM is listed in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities and indexed in Academic OneFile (Gale), cnpLINKer (CNPIEC), Google Scholar, Info Trac (Gale) and Inspec (Institution of Engineering and Technology).
Dr Krishna enthused, “Peer review is the principal mechanism by which the quality of research is judged. Most funding decisions in science and the academic advancement of scientists are based on peer-reviewed publications. Because the number of scientific articles published each year continues to grow, the quality of the peer-review process and the quality of the editorial board are cited as primary influences on a journal’s reputation and standing in the field. Reviewers play a critical role in the scholarly publishing process as academics are dependent on critical peer reviews to assess the quality and thoroughness of their research before publication.”
To be recognised as the Best Reviewer by the world-renowned scholarly publisher was the second for Dr Krishna. Before this, he has received the “Most Active Reviewer Award” from the International Journal of Network and Mobile Technologies (IJNMT) for the year 2012.
He added, “The award is an endorsement of the rigorous research training that we provide for our students at FBF.” He also expressed his gratitude to the editor Prof Dr Keng-Boon Ooi, a prominent academic in Industrial Management and Information Systems for the nomination.
Dr Krishna also serves as a reviewer for various international journals from renowned publishers such as Emerald and Taylor and Francis (United Kingdom). His profile is also available in “Publons”. Publons was founded by Andrew Preston and Daniel Johnston in 2012 to address the static state of peer-reviewing practices in scholarly communication, with a view to encourage collaboration and speed up scientific development.
