(7 June 2016, Tuesday)The Sundaram Tagore Gallery at Gillman Barracks is holding an exhibition of late artist Anthony Poon’s works, titled Transformation and Colour. The exhibition features several of Poon’s key works, such as his celebrated Wave series, and includes 19 paintings and 4 sculptures, among other works. Many of these were displayed at the National Art Gallery’s Light and Movement Portrayed exhibition in 2009, and have been rarely seen by the public.
Poon, who was awarded the Cultural Medallion for achieving artistic excellence in 1990, graduated from NAFA in 1964. He was one of the first few local artists who studied abroad in England, and returned to Singapore in 1971.
The exhibition will run until 10 July, from 11am to 7pm (Tuesday to Saturday); and 11am to 6pm (Sunday), at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery. Admission is free.
