Miri – 18 January 2016 – School leavers with outstanding results in the SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC examinations are invited to apply for the prestigious Curtin Merit Scholarships offered by Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak).
Designed in consultation with schools and community and business organisations throughout Malaysia, the scholarships aim to reward academic excellence among students from all backgrounds, enabling them to realise their potential, to graduate with high practical employability, and to achieve their ambitions.
Curtin Sarawak’s February/March 2016 intake is now in progress, and eligible students are encouraged to take advantage of the scholarships when they enrol.
In doing so, they will enjoy significant tuition fee waivers to pursue a quality Australian education with Curtin Sarawak, Curtin University’s largest international campus, and consequently take world-ranked Curtin courses and graduate with degrees awarded directly by the university’s main campus in Western Australia.
Curtin Sarawak’s Pro-Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Jim Mienczakowski, remarked that the scholarships are part of the university’s commitment to engaging communities and changing lives and its goal to be a recognised regional leader in higher education.
He said Curtin Sarawak values the support it gets from the community and seeks to enhance its partnerships with schools, community and business organisations with the offering of the scholarships which were first launched last year.
“To ensure the scholarships are awarded to the most deserving students, we work closely with them to invite students with excellent academic results to apply,” said Professor Mienczakowski.
Qualified students who are interested to apply for the scholarships can obtain application forms from the Loans & Scholarships counter located at Curtin Sarawak’s Student Central office. Alternatively, the form is downloadable from www.curtin.edu.my/scholarship/scholarship.htm. Full details of the scholarships can also be found on the website.
For local students, applications must reach Curtin Sarawak’s Marketing Department within the first week of class commencement, while for international students, the deadline is the last date of fee payment.
Curtin Sarawak is a globally-focused institution with students from more than 45 countries. Highly-qualified teaching staff from some 15 countries, many of whom hold PhDs and have extensive industry experience in their fields, further strengthen its international outlook.
In addition to experiencing a unique cross-cultural learning environment and studying courses identical to those at other Curtin campuses in Australia and Singapore, students enjoy an undifferentiated learning experience and similar student support mechanisms as their counterparts at the other campuses.
Those interested to enrol in the February/March intake can contact Curtin Sarawak’s Marketing Department at 085-443 939 or log on to www.curtin.edu.my/future/enquiry.htm. Classes for the foundation courses commence on 28 March 2016 while the undergraduate courses will start on 29 February.
