Miri – 9 July 2013 – Animal lovers and pet owners in Miri are invited to participate in the Hands.Paws.Claws Day event being organised by student ambassadors of the John Curtin Leadership Academy (JCLA) at Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) this 17 August 2013.
The event, which carries the theme ‘Bringing People Closer to Animals’, will be from 7.00 am to 1.00 pm in the university’s Recreation and Event Centre.
According to organising chairperson Kristy Nyagang, it promises to be a fun-filled time for animal lovers to spend quality time and bond with their pets. There will be activities such as a 4-kilometre Fun Run, Amazing Race with dogs, and an online Cat Photo Contest, in addition to lucky draws and merchandise booths.

The JCLA is Curtin University’s student leadership programme developed in honour of John Curtin, the fourteenth Prime Minister of Australia and after whom the university is named. Its objectives are to instil John Curtin’s three core values of Vision, Leadership and Community Service.
