Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)’s Centre for Biodiversity Research, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research will be organising the Agricultural Technology Seminar Series XII on 14 November 2015 at UTAR Kampar Campus.
Themed “Advancing Oil Palm Production in Malaysia”, the event aims to provide an update on oil palm plantation in Malaysia and improve the productivity of oil palm.
“Oil palm plantation is the most valuable and profitable cash crop in the country,” said organising chairperson Prof Dr Peter Ooi Aun Chuan, who added that the seminar is important and should interest stakeholders and researchers of the industry.
To enrich the seminar, six invited speakers from different backgrounds will provide insights on the advances made in enhancing palm oil production. The keynotes addresses by the erudite speakers include ‘Oil Palm Plantation Management’, ‘Advances of Microbiology in Oil Palm’, ‘Genetic Strategies for Yield Improvement in Major Crops’, ‘Advanced of R&D in Sustainable Production of Palm Oil’, ‘Soil for Palm Oil and Perspective of Small Scale Oil Palm Plantation’.
The one-day seminar is open to the public, students, lecturers and researchers. The registration fee is RM20 with lunch as well as refreshment provided.
