Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Accounting student Ng Yue Ann was awarded Malaysia’s Top Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Prize Winner for Strategic Professional Level – Advanced Financial Management (AFM) exam paper taken during June 2023 examinations. Ng, who scored 91 over 100 marks, was placed first in Malaysia and worldwide.
Ng enthused, “The Advanced Financial Management exam is designed to replicate the role of a senior financial executive or advisor and prepare candidates to advise management and/or clients on complex strategic financial management issues facing an organisation. Besides, the ACCA Accelerate programme gave me the incentive to pursue the qualification as part of my goal of becoming a professional accountant. I chose AFM as my first Options paper as I enjoyed business finance and strategic financial management subjects during my undergraduate studies. It was a straightforward choice for me to pick AFM due to the paper’s technical nature that suited my strength and interest.”
Expressing her gratitude, she said, “It was very unexpected news, but it made me feel very grateful knowing that my hard work has paid off. The road was not easy, and this was my first attempt, hence there were many uncertainties. However, I am immensely grateful for the support I received from my parents, family members, tutors and close friends. My achievement of attaining the highest mark not only in Malaysia but worldwide is something I will remember forever. I am glad that my efforts have been recognised and it serves as a motivating factor for me to continue the remaining papers.”
