In conjunction with World Social Work Day 2018 on 20th March 2018, the Diploma in Social Work (DSW) Programme at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) will be organising a public talk on Social Work Practice and Education for stakeholders from both government and non-government stakeholders. WSWD 2018 is best celebrated by highlighting the importance and relevance of professional social work education and training for those who are committed and passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations. Best practices contribute towards economic and environmental sustainability of societies which is the theme for WSWD 2018. The DSW Programme was developed to provide a pathway for those who are involved or would like to be involved in social services and welfare work but did not have the opportunity or access to professional social work education and training. This is the time to find out more information as the next intake commences on 6th April 2018.
As part of the programme, Ms Moey Yoke Lai, the CEO of MCKL will give a welcome address while Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria, Trustee of the Foundation for Social Studies and Development (or Yayasan Kajian dan Pembangunan Masyarakat) will also deliver a talk on Social Work Practice and Education. The DSW Programme was launched on 7th April 2017, and the students have reported positive learning outcomes after completing their first year of study. They will be sharing their experiences to mark the importance and relevance of professional social work education and training with the public as part of the programme for the 20th March 2018.
