Kuala Lumpur – The inaugural Blossom Arts Festival 2016 which is themed ‘Cultural Diversity in Full Bloom’, a month-long festival of various art programmes at Wisma MCA has finally begun after a year in the making, with partnership from The One Academy as the festival’s official designer.
As a creative art college that has been championing art, culture and education for the past 25 years, The One Academy is successful in contributing towards the festival’s signature design concepts that communicated Blossom Arts Festival 2016 effectively, which was conceived as an event to recognise Malaysian Chinese citizens who had given meritorious contributions and achievements in arts and culture.
“The MCCACC [Malaysian Chinese Culture & Arts Consultative Council] has been most pleased with the design package that now gives the Blossom Arts festival 2016 a unique corporate identity and premium brand,” said YB Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Chairman of MCCACC. “Apart from the logo, The One Academy has created an entire family of products right to the wraparound package for internal exhibition halls as well as the external displays around Wisma MCA. “
Besides taking the role of an official designer, The One Academy will be actively participating in the festival by providing the ‘Taste of Art’ exhibition and art installations such as anamorphic art, String Art display and a 3D landmark.
The ‘Taste of Art’ exhibition is an anthology of some of the best illustration and animated artworks by The One Academy lecturers, students and graduates. Visitors will be able to appreciate a variety of personal artistic styles through over 100 artworks by artists Lum Siew Hong, Leo Chong, Vincentius Matthew, Kobe Sek Yong Kai, Chew Lee Teng, Minlo Daniel, among others. Some of the best works from the advertising graduates were also displayed to portray how art and culture dictate the world of advertising.
In addition, The One Academy provided anamorphic art, an idea conceived by its creative team, to display the theme of ‘Diversity Brings Harmony’ within Wisma MCA. Another highlight of the launch was the unveiling of ‘The String of Harmony’, a string art that is used by the festival to emphasise the importance of Unity in Diversity.
“When all the colourful strings, where each coloured string represents one ethnic group or religious group, are strung together, it creates a beautiful image appreciated by all – an expression of harmony attained through Unity and Diversity. This expression through art illustrates what we in Malaysia, communities of multi-ethnic, multi-religious backgrounds, can achieve with harmony,” said YB Chew.
The official launching of the Blossom Arts Festival 2016 on the 1st of June revealed a specially constructed 3D landmark by The One Academy to inaugurate the festival. Launched by MCA president at Dataran MCA, the 3D sculpture of steel that is three metres tall, will reveal the words Blossom Arts Festival in Mandarin when viewed from a certain angle.
The endeavors to produce these unique display showcases proved that The One Academy “had outperformed the task set by the MCCACC”. The work done by the academy was praised to be outstanding and communicates the brand of the festival effectively, setting the bar for MCCACC’s future events.
The One Academy is committed to providing the best art education programmes and continues to nurture its students passionately by providing diploma and degree courses, namely Illustration, Movie & Game Art, ESMOD Fashion Design & Pattern Making, Interior Architecture & Design, Multimedia Design with Digital Media & Interactive Design, Digital Animation with Game Development, Advertising & Graphic Design, Film Visual Effects and Fine Arts.
