(5 September 2015, Saturday) At the Patron of the Arts awards, held earlier this Thursday, 111 organizations and 115 individuals were honoured for their contributions to the arts. They collectively donated $53.8 million in 2014, surpassing 2013’s figure by 67%, setting a new record in the process.
Five individuals were awarded the Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award, for donating $100,000 and more. One of them, Chen Li Ping, a first time donor, chose to donate to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She said: “NAFA has always struck me as an arts institution with a strong Singapore flavour. I have taken part in many of their activities, and have always been in awe of the teachers who bring out the best in their students, and their creative spirit is unique and infectious.”
