UTAR Perak Campus Run draws massive turnout

A huge crowd of 825 Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) students, staff and members of public participated in the UTAR Perak Campus Run which was held on 15 July 2012.
Organised by Department of Student Affairs, the run was held for a second successive year following the phenomenal success of its’ debut in 2011. Deputy Home Affairs Minister Dato’ Lee Chee Leong flagged off the event at 7a.m.
The participants were divided into four categories: UTAR Male, UTAR Female, Open Male and Open Female.

In the UTAR Male category, petrochemical engineering student Ken Khai Sern emerged as champion, followed by commerce accounting student Hooi Ving Fai and English language student Tan Khye Chuin, who won the first and second runners-up respectively.

In the UTAR Female category, staff Ong Sueming claimed the top prize, edging commerce accounting student Reena Kaur a/p Manjit Singh and Biotechnology student Lim Shen Yin to second and third place respectively.

The Male Open category saw Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) student, Sudanese Almur Abdelkreem Saeed Rabih leapfrogged other contenders to seal the top spot. The rat race also brought joy for first runner-up, Mohd Saddam bin Mohd Pittli from Teluk Intan and second runner-up, Risitharanachari a/l Thiruvalluvar from Running Club, Ipoh.

In the Female Open category, two Kampar natives, Sin Pei Chan and Ow Ping Kwai clinched the first and second place respectively ahead of third-placed Shakhnoza Khamdamova, from Uzbekistan.
