Miri – 9 September 2013 – The Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) Miri Chapter and Institute of Materials Science (IMS) Committee will be organising the 2nd International Materials Symposium cum 4th Regional Materials Technology Conference & Exhibition this 12 September 2013 at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club Miri.
The event is being supported by The Institution of Engineers (IEM), Miri Branch and Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak). This year’s event is themed ‘Materials Technologies for Asset Sustainability’.
The symposium and conference will discuss issues and applications of materials technologies, as well as reflect on the innumerable aspects of materials research and development, with the IMM and IMS fraternity.
It will see industry experts and academic researchers present papers related to materials and corrosion engineering, welding technology and inspection techniques.
The speakers will include representatives from Curtin Sarawak, University of Nottingham Malaysia, Malaysia Nuclear Agency, Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia, Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. (Sarawak Operations), Sarawak Shell Bhd., Stork Technical Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., TNB Research Sdn. Bhd., Corrtrol Corrosion Sdn. Bhd., Netek IR System A/S, 1Norimax Sdn. Bhd. and Solvay Singapore.
The organising committee is headed by IMM Miri Chapter Chairman Ir. Dr. Edwin Jong Nyon Tchan and its members include Curtin Sarawak’s Dean of Teaching and Learning, Associate Professor Dr. Beena Giridharan.
